Managing Contestants
Open a contest and go to Contestants.
Adding a contestant
Enter a name and email and select Add. You can mark them as an alternate at add time.
For Division contests, each contestant also shows an Area column, since a division contest draws from multiple areas.
Editing a contestant
Each row can be edited in place: club, area (Division contests only), name, education level, contact info, alternate status, eligibility, speech title, and speaking order.
Directors can't compete
Adding or inviting a contestant whose email belongs to a director is blocked — directors may not compete, full stop. This is checked when you add them, when you save an edit, and again when the invitation is accepted.
Linking an existing account
If the contestant already has an account, you can link their user record to the row directly rather than sending a fresh invite.
If a linked contestant is also serving as a helper on the same contest, you'll see a warning — the rulebook says a contestant can't also be a helper. It's a warning, not a block, so you can dismiss it if it's intentional.
Inviting a contestant
Once a contestant has an email, select Invite. If an invite is already outstanding, the button relabels to Resend Invite.
Bio and eligibility documents
Each contestant can have documents (bio, eligibility form) attached. Staff can download the most recent upload for each document type from this page.
Removing a contestant
Removing a contestant deletes their row, cancels any outstanding invitation, and adjusts their contest access down to whatever their remaining roles still justify.
