Role interests

Check the roles you're willing to help with, and mark experience where it applies, then Save. This is what directors see when they're looking for volunteers to staff a contest.

Which contests?

Once you've saved at least one role interest, a second section appears listing the active contests in your district, with each contest's date and start time. Each contest shows one button for every role you offer — for example Volunteer as Timer or Volunteer as Judge. The catch-all role appears as Any role.

This is a request, not a booking. Nothing is confirmed until someone approves it, and you'll be emailed either way:

  • Judge — the District Chief Judge, or that contest's own Contest Chief Judge.
  • Contest Chief Judge — the District Chief Judge.
  • Contest Chair and Contest Master — the contest's Area Director or Division Director.
  • Every other role — the contest's Contest Chair or Contest Master, or its Area or Division Director.
  • On a District contest, the district's Coordinators take the Area and Division Director's place for both of the above.

See Signing Up to Judge a Contest for what a judge reviewer checks.

Each request shows where it stands:

  • Pending — waiting on a decision. Withdraw simply takes the request back, and you can volunteer again later.
  • Approved — you have a place on the contest. Withdraw gives it up, and you won't be able to volunteer for that same contest and role again, so you'll be asked to confirm first. For a non-judge role, whoever approved you is emailed that the seat is free again. For a judge seat, a District Chief Judge would have to add you back.
  • We have enough — that position is already filled for this contest. You're still in the volunteer pool and can offer for other roles or contests.
  • Withdrawn — final, with nothing further to do.

If you later untick a role in your role interests, any request you still have for it on an active contest stays visible here so you can withdraw it. You just won't be offered new contests for that role until you tick it again.
